Applying the Pareto Principle to the History of Project Management
Fresh from the camera – Lesson 2 on Project Management 2.0: The History of Project Management as We Know It. Applying the Pareto principle to Project Management history, we can safely conclude that it consists of three major milestones. Watch Lesson 2 – and let me know if you disagree.
Good people from a fledging online training community https://madbright.com/ prompted me to put together this course – Project Managers Not PMPs: A Hard Look at the Soft Practice of Project Management and PMP Certification.
Working on the course has been quite a self-discovery exercise. Although I worked as project manager for over two decades, I have quite a few reservations about this “profession” and about the certification that has become mainstream. I am certain that the current “hard” PM 1.0 version is doomed. It’s time to replace it with a “soft” PM 2.0 methodology.
Check out this Lesson 2: The History of Project Management as We Know It – and share your thoughts. Perhaps, it’s just my delusions – so you are welcome to blast me at your convenience, no credentials are required to be part of the discussion.
Do not get me wrong: I am very grateful to a few very special people who made me understand (and eventually denounce) the PM 1.0 approach, Frank Payne being on the top of my list with a special mention in the lesson’s Q&A section (part 2). Thanks, Frank! I am sure you will agree with me, and we’ll meet again soon – in PM 2.0.
